!A BIG THANK YOU TO YOU ALL!
Thank you to all that gave up a little of their time and attended our public meeting. It was great to see so many people! We hope the event was useful and that you tell your friends and neighbours all the information gathered! There is an action group meeting to be held at the Donington Manor Hotel on Thursday 29th April @ 7:30pm to report back on the meeting. All are welcome!

This website has been created to highlight the very real threat the village of Castle Donington now faces - the destruction of our village community and its countryside.

The Action Group has been formed to object to the development of land adjacent to Park Lane by Miller homes and Clowes Developments. This MAJOR development will have DETRIMENTAL impacts on OUR community:

'We are a village community, we are not a town. We all make lifestyle choices. Where would you want to live?......Don't Destroy a village!'

• 975 new houses in addition to 500 new homes already approved (c.55% increase to Castle Donington)

• Destruction of arable land, open spaces and wildlife

• Strain on public services

• Potential increase of HGV traffic in our area

This will by no means be the last development plan for the village. There is a real danger that the majority of agricultural and forest land within the village will be handed over to developers for industrial and residential use. We must all act now and object to this wanton destruction of our village and that of the countryside. We urge you to lodge your objections to this application to North West Leicestershire District Council by either: (THE COUNCIL WILL TAKE OBJECTIONS UP UNTIL IT IS PRESENTED TO THE PLANNING COMMITTEE SO KEEP OBJECTING AND SIGNING THE PETITION! - WE WILL LET YOU KNOW HERE WHEN THIS HAPPENS!)

• emailing them at: development.control@nwleicestershire.gov.uk. quoting ref.: 09/01226/OUTM
• writing to NWLDC, Council Offices, Coalville, Leicestershire, LE67 3FJ quoting re.: 09/01226/OUTM
• or visiting www.dontdestroydonington.co.uk to learn more about the Action Group (DDDAG)

We would like to point out we are in no way against construction and development within North West Leicester. We understand the crisis the construction industry is currently facing and the housing shortage. We are however against the development of existing countryside / green belt / green field land, the environmental and health effects caused by a development of this size e.g. extra traffic, potential increase in related accidents/deaths, pollution and the strain placed on existing services such as local surgeries and schools. The current plans do not provide for extra health, education, road safety or recreational facilities. Castle Donington cannot cope with or accommodate this development - the village will be destroyed!!

DON'T DESTROY DONINGTON!
